We show our colours! - PRIDE MONTH 2023

The month of June is official Pride Month every year and is all about the LGBTIQ+ scene.

The LGBTIQ+ community advocates for more tolerance in society, regardless of a person's sexual orientation or gender identity.

Pride Month is celebrated annually in June in memory of the Stonewall Uprising in New York on 28 June 1969, during which queer people resisted discriminatory treatment by the police. Events and various actions are held worldwide to draw attention to the injustices and disadvantages that still exist for LGBTIQ+ people.

We are also setting an example this month and showing our colours by raising the rainbow flag at our company site in Rohr near Nuremberg.

Tolerance in our working environment is an important part of our diversity dimensions. We strive every day to overcome classic role models and to show that it is the commitment of the individual person that counts with us, regardless of their respective gender.

Why the rainbow flag?

With its bright colours, the rainbow flag symbolises the diversity of ways of living and loving. It is one of many Pride Flags and stands as a symbol for diversity, pride and self-assertion. Each colour has a meaning: pink stands for sexuality, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for the sun, green for nature, turquoise for art, blue for harmony and purple for spirituality.

What does LGBTIQ+ stand for?

The English abbreviation LGBTIQ stands for Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgender, Intersex and Queers. The plus at the end of the abbreviation stands for this in order to include further, unnamed identities.

What is queer?

Queer is often used as a collective term and is a broad concept. Queer" often refers to people who identify with non-traditional gender identities and sexualities, i.e. beyond categories such as "man" and "woman" or "heterosexual" and "lesbian"/"gay".
